Lunt is a hamlet between Maghull and Crosby, to the north of Liverpool. The reserve, product of a flood storage scheme, opened in 2015 and is a superb place to combine an easy walk with bird-watching, as a wide variety of birds has rapidly been attracted to it. The walk goes around the edge of the reserve, passing a number of viewing platforms before moving out on public footpaths to another reserve. The going is mostly on wide grassy tracks that are mown frequently but you need to be aware that the area is open and exposed to winds so you need to dress appropriately.

Nice walk, if a tad muddy today! Good instructions. Plenty of opportunities for bird-watching. Dog-friendly if on a tight lead. No stiles.

This was a nice short walk on well maintained paths.
