The Nith View Trail is a circuit within Mabie Forest, near Dumfries. It makes a pleasant and undulating walk along Forestry Commission Scotland's well-maintained paths and tracks, mainly through mixed woodland with viewpoints and with plenty of seats and picnic tables along the way. Mabie Forest also caters for cyclists and there is a cycle shop, The Bike Shed, which has recently added a cafe. Within Mabie Forest is Butterfly Conservation's new reserve, plus Garden Wood, the only sensory garden in South-West Scotland.

Information for Dog Owners: there are signs along the route which warn of nearby farm animals and requiring dogs to be on a leash.

Walked this today but around points 9 and 10 the path was not very clear and we went back and stayed on the yellow signed nith trail. Excellent walk

A nice walk in a very well looked after forest. There are a number of routes to take in the forest catering for all from cyclists, walkers & families. My only gripe would be the loose stone covering on some of the tracks\roads was quite sharp and not very dog friendly. My Patterdale Terrier suffered badly due to this and had to be carried in certain places. A cracking area all the same.
