The walk very quickly joins the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, much favoured by fishermen, swans and wagtails. A few minutes on a lane then leads to field-paths and the old railway line. From here farm tracks lead to the banks of the River Alt by one of the pumping stations which drain this massive floodplain, then to Baines Bridge.

Further field-paths lead to lanes and a crossing of the A565. From here paths lead to the edge of the ancient village of Little Crosby and the suburb of Blundellsands and Hall Road Station.

5/6/2012 - Fred and Val Coyne

Did this walk May 2012. As stated it is very flat going. Can't say it's good for wheelchairs throughout - getting over the R.Alt at the pumping station would be a carrying job. The track between pts 8 and 9 was a bit of a boring slog. The description at the farm (pt 11 and 12)is slightly changed...no stile and didn't see an electric fence.
