The walk, which is mainly to the north of the village of Malpas, uses many old tracks and byways for about half its length. These include sections of the Roman Road to Chester and parts of the Bishop Bennett Way, itself on old tracks. The remainder is across fields with only one stile to cross and a few short road sections. Although the walk goes to no great heights, it is surrounded by the Cheshire Plain and there are wide views from most sections, plus the most surprising of all just before the end (Waymark 26) when the Breidden Hills on the Welsh / Shropshire border are clearly seen, although they are 25 miles away.
