The walk initially climbs from Mam Nick car park up to Mam Tor, then drops down into Edale. Leaving Edale on the Pennine Way, the route soon leaves the Pennine Way and climbs onto Kinder Scout via Grindsbrook Knoll and Crowden Tower. It then goes along the southern edge of Kinder Scout with its fascinating array of weather-sculptured rocks. Rejoining the Pennine Way at a large cairn just after Noe Stool, it shortly leaves it again near Edale Cross, finally to climb up Brown Knoll and Rushup Edge. The walk encircles the head of the Vale of Edale, providing extensive views over hills and moorland.
Terrain: gritstone paths and tracks over moors and hills.
