Starting from the car park at the base of Mam Tor, the walk begins by ascending Mam Tor via a well-constructed path to admire the 360-degree views over Edale, Castleton and beyond. The route then follows the paved path along the ridge, initially to Hollins Cross before ascending to Black Tor for more great views over the dales. From here the route can easily be extended to Loose Hill before leaving the ridge to take the path down and across the fell towards Blue John Mine, which has a cafe. Final section of the walk involves a brief road section before taking a footpath back to the car park. This is a relatively gentle way to take in some great views of this part of the Peak District and identify other potential walks.
