Starting at Marks Tey Staion, this interesting linear walk passes through the Essex countryside and the village of Chappel, passing its station, before continuing through beautiful countryside in Suffolk, finally to end up at Bures Railway Station.

This walk mostly consists of field-paths and quiet country lanes with some excellent views along the way. There are two pubs en route so refreshments are to hand. You also get a chance to see the spectacular viaduct at Chappel and on certain days the railway museum at Chappel and Wakes Colne Station is worth a visit.

All paths were clear but quite muddy in the winter months but this doesn't stop you enjoying this excellent walk.

From Marks Tey Station to Chappel |Station is roughly halfway, 5.3 miles, so if you prefer you can just do this first stage and return to Marks Tey. Or start at Chappel Station, Waymark 21 and just do the second leg.
