This circular walk takes in the RSPB Marshside Nature Reserve, which has a wide abundance of wildlife. The walk is relatively good underfoot and can be walked at any time of the year, allowing for varied birdlife due to migration and breeding seasons.
The walk starts at a car park next to the now disused sand works. The first part of the walk takes in the RSPB hides, allowing extensive views across the marshland water features. Following a short stroll south along the sea wall, you turn left to the old site of Hesketh Park Aerodrome, taking a moment to read the information board. You then take a left again to follow a sea defence embankment which goes through a golf course, prior to running behind a school and housing estate. Upon reaching the end of the embankment you turn left to follow the sea wall back the start. The Hesketh Arms in Churchtown is highly recommended for refreshments and is only a mile or so from this walk.
