Starting on the outskirts of Ratby, this flat, dog-friendly walk is easily combined with other walks in the Ratby area. Initially it passes along the edges of Martinshaw Woods before taking you through the pleasant, historic village of Groby. After leaving the village you visit Groby Pool Country Park before having to cross the A50 by using a pedestrian crossing. After crossing the A50 the walk returns into Martinshaw Woods, where you can let your dogs off their leads to enjoy the tranquillity of this Woodland Trust-owned landscape.

27/08/2013 We walked this today in hot, bright sunshine, so the shade in the woods was very welcome. The instructions were spot-on, as usual with Richard's walks. We plan to do the walk again in the autumn, when the leaves are turning; as the paths are mostly surfaced, conditions should still be good. We live in the area but have never visited Martinshaw Woods or Groby Pool (which is beautiful) before, so it was really interesting. No difficult stiles to climb over and very few nettles!
