Meikle Balloch Hill and Wood, which towers over the nearby town of Keith, is managed by the Forestry Commission and has an open, access to all policy. There are several other walks around Balloch Wood and the hill. The abundant wildlife includes deer, foxes, spotted woodpeckers, buzzards etc. This circular walk starts at a car park and takes you through the mature woodland, which suddenly opens up to a carpet of heather and lichen. From here, on the edge of the hill, you have to walk over the gentle rise to the summit (365m), where you are rewarded with the most spectacular 360-degree views of Aberdeenshire and Moray.
This walk is ideal for dog-walkers; enjoy this wonderful walk as we have for many years.
