A delightful walk which starts from the greystone village of Mells, along quiet country lanes and across open fields with fine views, with the final stretch along a particularly lovely riverside path. Refreshments are available at the Talbot Inn in Mells itself (Egon Ronay) and at The Bell Inn in Buckland Dinham, which is roughly the halfway mark.

We did this walk yesterday, and really enjoyed it. Two points to note however, at Waypoint 9 the bridge at the double stile has been marked by the council as broken and do not use. It is passable with care though. At Waypoint 16, the fence and stone stile are completely gone but the path is still fairly obvious.

We completed this enjoyable ramble on a bright February day and can highly recommend it. There is lots of historical interest throughout and the directions are very clear. We saw dippers on the Mells Stream, buzzards overhead and deer in the fields. Thank you to David and Liz.

Walked this yesterday with the two hounds, Hollie and George, who loved it. Lots of freedom to roam and explore, and on the second half of the walk plenty of drinking and paddling. For us, great views, mixed countryside navigated with the easy to follow instructions. One note: the path between waypoints 10 and 12 is now pretty well defined and easy to follow; avoids walking along the road.

This was a very nice walk with easy to follow directions. The Bell Inn was dog friendly. We had 4 with us and the owner was happy for us to come in, with nice food.

Sorry - its the Bell Inn that's closed Monday and Tuesdays! (The Talbot Inn had stopped doing food by the time we got back to Mells, but the menu looked very good.)

We had a really super time yesterday doing this walk - and the final stretch really is gorgeous, so thanks to the chap that submitted it. Really good directions too. One thing to note however, the Talbot Inn is closed on Monday and Tuesday lunchtimes.
