This breathtaking walk begins in the quaint Cornish fishing village of Mevagissey with its busy, working harbours and colourful fishing boats. Here we can enjoy a few moments in its unique atmosphere and many small shops, perhaps even visiting the museum or aquarium on the harbour, before we walk up the ancient, narrow lanes between the old fishermen's cottages to join the coast path.

This leads us along the clifftops and through beautiful countryside, with many scenic coastal views along the way. Towards the end of our journey our walk takes us along a pleasant track near the Lost Gardens of Heligan, before leading us back to the start of this captivating walk.

The Heligan road section is about 500 metres and can be busy at holiday periods due to the 'Lost Gardens', so it is recommended to walk facing the oncoming traffic. Because of this road section of this walk is not recommended for children or dogs in busy holiday periods, but at other times it can be quite quiet.

As per the previous post - the road section is evil in the summer. Lots of traffic, many camper vans, HGVs and caravans. I wouldn't take kids or dogs. That said, Mevagissey is lovely and the coast is always superb in Cornwall. Photos and Story at http://mappiman.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/070612-holidays-from-heligan.html

Walked 14.07.2009 - An outstanding walk with so much to see, the benches after the harbour up the hill are great and there are so many. A good coast path and excellent views make for a great walk. The only downside is the section of road walking where the directions tell you to turn right to Heligan. This is VERY dangerous, cars pass very fast and with the hedges overgrown there is no escape from the traffic. We would recommended NOT taking kids on this walk or maybe trying to divert around the road walking section. Aside from this the rest of the walk is superb. 7/10 (only rated lower due to the road section).
