This is one of the more quiet parts of the Forest of Dean. The paths are mainly good and there are no stiles. The climbing is mainly at the start and there are two sunken tracks to enjoy. Remember that these were once the main roads. Look for the Victorian postbox at Abenhall.

Lovely walk, no stiles and virtually no livestock so dogs run free for most of the way. Note that at point 9 if you take the second of the forest rides on the left it obviates the need to cross the stream which in wet weather (June 2012) was a substantial waterway! You end up on the same path either way.
