The part-linear walk is along field-paths and forestry tracks up into the scenic valley of the Birnock Water and was offered as part of the 2006 Moffat Walking Festival. It features leafy lanes, gradual gradients, vast views, friendly farm animals and is on tolerable terrain throughout!

We did this walk on 23/05/10 and agree with the previous comment that the walk seemed pointless beyond Moffat Well. It was a hot day when we did it and the smell from the well was disgusting - you wouldn't want to drink the water now! Also, the exotic animals at point 8 were not to be seen. But it was a delightful walk which we enjoyed very much, especially as we finished it with a freshly made ice cream from the Freshly Made Ice Cream shop in Moffat.

Did this walk at the weekend end and would like to make the following observations. - Ground is currently saturated and would therefore advise strong waterproof boots in Winter. - Between waypoints 5 and 6. There is also a metal kissing gate on the right approx half way along. Ignore this gate. - Walk was very nice but seemed pointless beyond Moffat well. Might be worth considering heading back from here.
