Monsal Head - Brushfield - Tideswell - Litton - Cressbrook - Monsal Head
This walk starts from one of Derbyshire's most popular viewpoints and uses some of the less well-used paths in the area.
Most of the route is along field-paths and tracks, though some road-walking is required, mostly through Tideswell and along narrow roads leaving the town. All paths were clear and stiles in place when walked. The first part of the walk is the longer, with a shorter and more direct return route.
There are a few steep climbs and descents along the route. The longest climbs and descents have steps to aid passing these sections.
The pub used on this walk is The George Hotel in Tideswell. It is adjacent to the church and can be quite busy. They welcome walkers, though covering of muddy boots is appreciated. They offer a good-value menu with interesting choices and a few decent beers on hand-pumps, mostly from the Kimberley Brewery with their Old Trip and Druid's Droop on offer when walked. Outside there are a few tables in the car park area and beer-garden to the rear, accessed through the pub. Eating your own food is not appreciated.
