This is a one-way route to ascend the Puy de Sancy, with return either by retracing your steps or by cable-car (5.50 euros). The climb is hard and took five hours in the snow.

There are incredible views to the Puy de Dome near Clermont Ferrand and to the Cantal Mountains.

I did the walk in late May and as you can see, encountered snow (it had only fallen the night before). I could not make the ascent to the very peak as I considered that it was getting potentially too dangerous. However, I feel that the views were even better for the snow coverage.

If you plan to use the cable-car, you would be advised to check the operating hours prior to ascending.
