Mount Blair sits between Glenshee (Perthshire) and Glen Isla (Angus); the county boundary runs north to south across the hill. Its conical shape and height of 744 metres make it easy to spot from surrounding peaks and conversely gives it great panoramic views to many peaks. The viewfinder on the summit claims that no fewer than forty Munros are visible. The circular walk starts beside the River Isla on the east of the hill and climbs over steepish heather and grass slopes with faint or no path in places. Nearer the summit the slope eases and there are easily followed paths for the rest of the route. The summit itself is defaced by a radio mast and associated clutter; it also has a cairn, a trig point and an impressive indicator panel identifying surrounding peaks.
