This walk follows the fast-flowing River Earn from Muthill to The Balloch. Starting at the church in Muthill, the route takes you down a minor road, then after about a mile you turn left down a farm road and cross a stone bridge. Immediately after you cross the bridge, look for a sign on your right; this will take you along a disused railway line and link up with the River Earn. At the Crystal Centre, cross the road and walk up through the woods. Go through the kissing-gate and continue straight ahead up the edge of the field, cross a fence and walk on to a stile at the corner of a field. Cross the stile and walk through the woods to a gate where you turn right, then a sharp left and walk up along the edge of the field to a metal gate. Walk on a good forest road up a steep hill past the radio mast. Carry on through the woods and when you emerge at the other side, go downhill and bear left at the junction and walk uphill to your car.
