The riverside area of Nantwich offers a very pleasant gentle stroll through landscaped parkland and riverside walk within easy access of the historic town. The figure-of-eight route takes you round Nantwich Lake, alongside the delightful river Weaver, and also passes through attractive landscaped parkland using wide and surfaced excellent paths with the occasional very gentle gradient. The footpath also takes you over the top of a weir (photo on the right), which creates an excellent waterfall. There are no gates, stiles, snickets or other obstacles and wheelchairs can be used without any assistance. The riverside area is home to the saline spring which feeds the outdoor swimming pool and on which Nantwich's prosperity has been largely founded. In the 19th Century there used to be a spar hotel alongside the lake. Please note that several of the paths may not be marked on the map.

This walk is suitable for children, senior citizens and anyone in-between; it's also excellent for dogs, wheelchairs & buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled; but if there has recently been heavy rain some of the paths could be a little muddy in places with numerous shallow puddles. There will be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. On your route there are no picnic tables but several bench seats are scattered around at intervals. There are numerous shops and facilities close by in the town including toilets, pubs and refreshments. If you do a Google search in you will be able to find several suitable eating places, and if you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with a drink; an excellent finish to a good walk.
