This is a circular walk over high ridge fells, which rewards with excellent views back to Keswick and down into Buttermere. The walk is generally on well-defined paths, but due to the exposed nature of the fells, the height and the distance, the walker should not underestimate this walk. If necessary there are two shorter or escape routes off, one being from Hindscarth, by continuing north and down the ridge and after Dalehead, on reaching Dalehead Tarn, the walker can go north down the valley. There is a short section of scrambling before reaching Robinson. This will not worry many. This walk gives rewarding views all the way around.

Excellent walk on beautiful sunny day. The instructions were accurate but the distance was 10.5 on my sat nav, only a mile or so out. A bonus really cos the views are amazing, my favourite one is looking down over Derwent water and beyond. Diane Djokic

Thanks Gary - a great walk very well described. Much enjoyed despite yesterday's muggy weather. Not for people who don't like ascents - there was certainly alot of UP in this one and even a little clambering which was fun. Note: from waymark 12, Dalehead, take care to follow Gary's excellent instructions down to the tarn. The map shows a path which does not exist.
