This is a pleasant walk through quiet lanes and along easy footpaths, in an unspoilt area. The walk takes you through undulating countryside, with views of the Derwent Fells. It is an ideal walk when the upper fells are inaccessible.

Between points 7 and 8, after about 100 yards, there is a bridge over a stream and a 'weak bridge' sign. This is NOT where one turns left along the river. In another 200 yards you come to the river where you turn left along a very new riverside path/embankment. The bridge here is not weak, it is new, rebuilt since the floods of 2009. Shortly after point 17 the path forks, the left fork is marked with a footpath sign (which we followed) however the right fork is the path to Nicol End (the left fork joins the road just before the path from Nicol End emerges).

We did this walk backwards so that we could also include walk 98 to Cat Bells. Lovely views in what turned out to be our highest climb of the week due to the weather!

We did this walk on 31st May 2005. Loveley walk, and all nicely open and easily walkable.
