Although less than a kilometre from the heart of the busy market town of Newton Abbott, this walk is a quiet and tranquil oasis in the midst of the built-up area. From the small car park by playing-fields, we first cross the River Lemon and follow the wooded riverside into the grounds of Bradley Manor, then continue to follow the wooded banks of the river. Leaving the manor grounds, we cross a couple of meadows before again crossing a bridge over the Lemon. Now in full woodland, we follow a track which dwindles into a footpath along the opposite side of the river - back in the direction we came - before heading up the wooded valleyside. Here, in more open woodland, there are many attractive trees and flowers, with carpets of bluebells in spring. Heading down the valley again, we arrive back at the river and follow a wide track for a while before it becomes a path through a small meadow. The path now crosses a tarmac drive and goes around the edge of the playing-fields back to the start in the car park.
