A circular walk from the pretty North Bedfordshire village of Odell around Santa Pod, the home of British Dragster Racing.

Odell is a pretty little village set in the heart of the North Bedfordshire countryside and is akin to visiting the Cotswolds without the crowds! There are thatched cottages, a 15th Century Anglican church (All Saints) and a lovely thatched village pub, The Bell. The village is on the edge of the Harrold / Odell Country Park and in lovely walking country with gently rolling hills.

Santa Pod Raceway http://www.santapod.co.uk/ is the home of European Drag Racing and host to the televised FIA European Drag Racing Championships. It is built on the site of the former RAF Podington Airfield, built in 1940/1 to accommodate two RAF squadrons and then in 1942 it was made available to the United States Army Air Force (USAAF) 8th Air Force.

This is a circular walk starting and finishing at The Bell public house adjacent to the village green in Odell and taking you around the historic Odell Great Wood. The walk is on public footpaths, bridleways and green lanes. Traffic is prohibited on the green lanes from October to April. During wet weather parts of the green lanes can be very muddy.

This is a varied walk and with winter mud becomes quite a yomp! I started at Harrold Country Park so added a couple of miles. Attention needed at WM 11 as the 'gap' is easily missed..trust me I did!
