Ogden Water - Ovenden Windfarm

The walk starts at the well-known beauty spot of Ogden Water and its car park at the end of the short lane from Causeway Foot Inn. Start at the far end of the lowest level of the car park, where there is also access to paths round the reservoir.

A good path leads out beside a wood to more open moorland. The path continues near to one of the streams feeding the reservoir, with views to Ovenden Wind Farm. This path starts to descend as we traverse the north end of the moor, with views towards Oxenhope and Haworth in the Worth Valley. The path passes through the remains of old quarries and strange stone-built structures. The route then joins a road, un-metalled in its middle section, before turning down a bridleway at the Withens pub, once the highest inn in West Yorkshire. (Although closed at present there are plans to reopen).

The bridleway continues downhill, eventually arriving at the plantation around Ogden Water. The bridleway may be followed back to the start point, or alternative ways can be found on the paths around the reservoir.
