The walk starts in Oundle town centre and initially follows a road out to Oundle Wharf, now a commercial area, before joining the popular Riverside Walk, following the Nene most of the way to Tansor. The return from Warmington is along a Roman road, as usual, in a straight line! The hamlet of Ashton straddles the route just before a final river crossing and the finish back in Oundle.
