A fairly undemanding walk taking in sections of riverside, walking above and along Bradford Dale and Lathkill Dale. The majority of the walk is along field-paths, with only short sections of road-walking along quiet narrow roads.
Crossing between valleys the walk route no longer offers opportunity for refreshment and food except for in Over Haddon. Carrying food and drinks now necessary choice of location to consume up to individuals.
On the return, the path passes below the site of an Iron Age fort at Castle Ring. In the fields around the area at the top of the bank are several small stone circles and standing stones. hill and down dale, but not too steeply. The route is rarely boggy, with one exception.
The middle part of the walk at Elton no longer offers any lunchtime refreshment opportunities. Waymarks between 23 - 29 probably now obsolete. The Duke of York now only opens a few evenings during the week, not at all at lunchtime.
Later the route crosses the Lathkill at a point with brown trout breeding ponds beside the path near Conksbury. The site of the former medieval village of Conksbury (no longer exists except for giving its name to Conksbury Bridge) is on the opposite bank of the Lathkill Dale path.
