The walk is more tiring than the distance suggests. The coast path is well known for its "ups and downs" and this stretch is no exception. The views make up for the demands and in spring this coast is like a garden, as well as a birdwatcher's paradise. While walking down the long descent into Newport, notice the mill stream down on the right side of the road and the remains of Castle Mill, next to the bridge near the bottom. See also the baptistry on the right-hand side of the road just before the mill.
