A fairly challenging walk crossing the River Dove Valley from Derbyshire into Staffordshire and back again. Most of the walk is along field-paths with some track- and road-walking required on quiet village roads. Most paths are easy to follow with one exception, which is unmarked and rarely walked. The gates on the section have been known to be tied up, though the path is clear on the 1:25000 scale map.
One optional path approaching Sheen is only concessionary; I have never had any problems walking this path.
The pub used on this walk, 'The Staffordshire Knot', has changed hands recently and is now not such a good walkers' pub. The food and beer is overpriced and not good value or quality. I would advise carrying food for this walk. When walked, only Marston's Pedigree was offered on hand pumps and at least 25p a pint more than other local pubs serving this beer. There are a few bench tables in the gravel car park: I have not known comment about eating your own food at these, at least if having bought drinks.
