Parys Mountain used to be a copper mine. It probably dates back to Roman times, when lead was also mined. Now there are deposits of copper, lead, zinc and small amounts of gold and silver. The colourful spoil heaps are striking to see. The whole area is multicoloured.
After a walk in the remains of the mine, the path heads downhill to the port of Amlwch. The town is the most northerly in Wales, with a deep tidal harbour.
The return walk goes round more of the mountain.
