The walk is in the area called the Revermont, which is an area of rolling, mixed agriculture and vine countryside rising sharply from 250m to a broad, forested plateau at 500m. The walk starts by climbing to the plateau, then through forest along the edge with some good views before descending by a Roman road through vines to the River Seille at Voiteur. Then it is through fields, vines and woods, passing a bishop's chateau and visiting one of the best-preserved of the chain of small castles which defended the area and controlled the salt road which ran through it.
