If you have two or three hours to spare, this walk will take you out of town and up towards the boundary with the North York Moors National Park and then back into town via Middleton Road.

From Pickering Memorial Hall and the Beck Isle Museum we follow Wells Walk, a byway, before reaching Swainsea Lane. We then follow a country lane for 2.5km, passing the extremely deep Newbridge Limestone Quarry. A gated track through Broates reaches a field-path heading south with views to the Yorkshire Wolds and Howardian Hills before reaching Middleton Road. Here we turn left to head back into Pickering.
