This route starts with being predominantly road- and trail-walking, using single-track roads and part of the Roystone Grange Trail (mostly gravel farm tracks with a few cattle grids). The remaining paths are along field-paths. It does however, have one tricky short stretch while descending though woodland into Parwich, with one short piece being a bit of a scramble.
Curiosity was one of my main reasons for this walk; most OS-scale maps show the return path mysteriously ending by the side of a wood (181577), with no logical links to other paths. It does actually link to a bridle-path, for some reason not shown on Ordnance Survey.
