Pilton is reached from Barnstaple over 'Pilton Causeway'. Pilton was once a burough in its own right, separated from Barnstaple by marshy ground surrounding the River Yeo until the causeway was built, making it a suburb of Barnstaple. Pilton is a very interesting area and this walk takes you along its street, past its church and through the historical Ladywell area. We pass two old mills and& their leats and finish by walking through adorable ancient woodland.

Sadly the cafe mentioned at Blakewell Fisheries has closed its doors. I'm not sure if it's permanent or temporary but as of now it's no longer available to help us on our merry way.
