Starting along a wooded river, the walk continues onto open moorland and climbs to four separate summits.

The walk follows paths in a deciduous wood leading to open moorland where there are no recognisable paths. The route climbs to Meall Donn, with great views towards the Arran Mountains and to the sea, then along a ridge to Beinn Bhreac, Mullach Buidhe and Beinn Bharrain and descends steeply to a river crossing and eventually back to the Pirnmill tea house. There is a good chance of spotting red deer on the walk.
