Start with a climb. quite steep in places, to gain Gadair Ridge. There are views in all directions as well as a sea of heather and wimberries. The view ahead is of Pen y Gadair. For this walk we enjoy the ridge without walking as far as the highest point. The return is through Mynydd Du Forest.
