The start of the walk is by open forest on a good path. The forest soon gives way to open, grassy, rough grazing. No special footwear is required, unless after heavy rain. Fine views to Coll and Ardnamurchan and there are cliffs and caves to explore.

As of Sept 2013 much of the woodland along the walk has been felled. The directions are probably still valid, but we didn't go far into it since the place looked like a bombsite!
