The walk starts in Potter Heigham on the medieval bridge and takes you along a stretch of the River Thurne well-known for its birdlife. Part of the Weaver's Way National Trail, this section can have high undergrowth in summer, so walking-boots and leg cover are recommended. At Thurne Dyke drainage mill you have an opportunity to relax at the pub, watch the passing boats, or even hire cycles to extend your walk, before picking up the trail again through the village. Leaving Thurne, quiet country lanes take you through Shallam Dyke Woods. From there, open fields allow panoramic views as you follow the trail back, passing riverside chalets to Potter Heigham.
