This is an enjoyable walk, through woodland and along tracks and beside field edges. On most of the route, in summer, wildflowers grow in an abundance which attracts many butterflies. In autumn the woods are transformed as the leaves change colour. The wood is mostly owned by The Woodland Trust and the walk starts along their permissive path which leads to the public footpath; this avoids a short distance along the busy main road. There is one stile near the walk's end. We can recommend the many excellent dishes served in the Wheatsheaf Inn, open seven days a week.

You can stay B&B at The Barn, East Beckham, North Norfolk, in this very rural spot. Telephone 01263-824250 for details.

Lovely spring day walk. We missed point 2 and kept on the path parallel to the road with a lovely view of the coast on the hill turn. At a crossroad of junctions we went right then through a gate to go up between the houses at point 4. There seem to be a lot of different paths now and the GPS was really useful! Point 6 the bridleway sign was hidden but the path clear. At point 16 there is now a solar farm in the field but markers are clear. Lots of sky and views across the Norfolk countryside. Thank you.

Completed this enjoyable walk July 2013. A small update at section 6 - note that it's the second 50 mph sign ( near A148 T junction )as there are now additional signs before it.

Actually we meant "right" as the corner is on your right as you approach it, however it is the top left hand corner of the field.

At step 12, third sentance; for "At right hand corner ...", amend to read "At left hand corner ..."
