A superb walk in green and leafy Warwickshire, starting from the beautiful church in the historic and lovely village of Priors Hardwick. Field-paths in open, gently undulating countryside lead to Priors Marston. Both villages are of rust-coloured stone, with truly wonderful churches. Benedictine priors from Coventry gave them the first part of their names. A splendid bridleway follows where there are many planted trees, the whole area a joyous experience of conservation. The sight of Napton-on-the-Hill is simply glorious and the surrounding pastures, peaceful and serene. Marston Doles is an idyllic setting around the top lock of the Napton flight on the north Oxford Canal and worth the few extra steps to visit, before taking the last leg of the route. Woodland, ponds and great views ensure the pleasure of this ramble lasts right up to the very end.
