Having arrived at the start point by your chosen means (see access information), the walk takes us towards the large country house S'Algueria d'Avall which we skirt to the left to join a wide track. This will take us twisting and turning upwards for about 1.5 hours through timeless Mallorca terraced countryside full of olive, carob and almond trees. The views become more and more panoramic as we climb this straightforward and not difficult route. We reach the top at 538m by the little plain memorial to Leonardo Ximenis and take the steps beside it that will lead us via an easy path 300m long to the summit of Puig de s'Algueria (609m), from where there are spectacular views to the south.

We return down along the same upward route and on the 11th hairpin bend, we have a choice. Those not seeking adventure can simply continue downwards, enjoying the opposite perspective of this lovely route back to the start. Experienced and well-equipped hikers who prefer more of a challenge leave at this point on a rocky footpath that climbs up and around Puig de Son Nassi along a terrace path. At the top there is a tall metal ladder-stile to clamber over before beginning a scramble down a steep, rocky gully. Towards the bottom things improve somewhat when we join a terrace path which zigzags more easily downwards. At the bottom an easy path leads us to a lane which, in turn, deposits us on the main Palma - Soller road a few metres from the Can Penasso Restaurant. Now there is just an unavoidable and fairly tedious 1km walk along the road to get us back to the start and the point at which you return along the lane to Bunyola Station (if you chose that option).
