This circular walk starting in the Essex village of Purleigh is a real delight. It is a fairly long walk but worth it, using field-paths, bridleways, country lanes and a delightful stretch through woodland. All the roads were fairly quiet, so traffic won't be a problem.

En route you will pass the historical Stow Maries Aerodrome which was used by The Royal Flying Corps during WW1 and can be visited on Fri-Sat-Sundays. You also pass through the grounds of the beautiful Hazleigh Hall before returning through vineyards to Purleigh, where you can enjoy refreshments at The Purleigh Bell (see website for opening times).

There is one path (Waymark 17) that was overgrown with stinging nettles (May 2022) so it may be worth finding a stick before walking along this enclosed path.
