Walk begins at Siding Lane Nature Reserve car park. The reserve occupies the site of Rainford Colliery and 'siding' refers to rail sidings that transported the coal. The reserve consists of woodland paths, picnic area, pond and capped mine shafts. Having walked through part of the reserve the route crosses the still working railtrack and crosses reclaimed mossland which is now fertile farmland to pass close to Mossborough Hall. From the hall the route follows Coach Road track to recross the railtrack before returning to the nature reserve via woodland path close to picnic area.
