Starting from East Lancashire Steam & Diesel Railway Station at Ramsbottom, this gentle stroll through the parks and woodland of Irwell Valley descends to Summerseat Railway Station before gradually climbing to Holcombe Village (conservation area), with an option to ascend Holcombe Hill and view Peel Monument and the stunning panorama. A steep return to the train station passes through Ramsbottom Village with its specialist gift-, antique and food shops and a bustling Saturday Market.

Lovely walk with some stunning views upon reaching Peel Tower Just some amendments At Point 2 the path across the middle of the Path is Concrete not gravel (there is a gravel path but this takes you around the left hand side of the park At Point 5 there is no Waterside Pub (this was apparently washed away in the floods a few years ago) At point 9 what was once the Summerseat Liberal Club is now an Italian restaurant called Al Bosco

10/10 For this one, the only changes I noticed: The Liberal Club building is there but appears to be disused. Also the heritage centre in Ramsbottom likewise.

For information. We did this walk 549 on 11 April 2009. The house mentioned at Point 9 is no longer white. It has been sandblasted back to Sandstone. The Liberal Club is now closed and it is just a shell. I can send a photo if it would help. Hope this helps. Best regards, Geoff Robertshaw
