Save Our Footpaths - get off the beaten track, the first half of this circular walk is along footpaths which are not often used and invisible. Good navigation is therefore important and lots of waymarks have been included. There are some delightful hot points such as the magnificent, thatched cottage where the route includes the edge of their lawn; soon followed by an enchanting spinney. However, most of the route crosses simple landscapes which are most pleasant in the summer. The numerous stiles are in good order but take a walking stick as you may come across the occasional cow. The waterway section follows a long length of the Llangollen Canal and passes three locks (you can see the view at one of them in the photo). This walk includes instructions for walkers from moored canal boats.
This walk is suitable for children, teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Only good for small dogs due to the numerous unfriendly stiles, and hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything stout and flat soled, but boots will certainly be best in winter to cope with the mud. In summer there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. There are refreshments, toilets and picnic tables at the pub at the start and finish of the walk. The pub car park where the walk starts from is for patrons only, and if you book in advance, you should be able to get a good meal with your drink; an excellent finish to a good walk. The pub normally opens at noon on weekdays; have a look at their website for weekend opening times and the menu. Tel. 01270 623522. Website: - www.farmersarmsravensmoor.co.uk
