This walk climbs Skiddaw, one of the highest peaks of Lakeland, by the most interesting route, having superb views across Bassenthwaite Lake whilst enjoying a ridge walk over Ullock Pike and Longside Edge. The only part of the walk where you'll see crowds is the final half kilometre to the top, as you also descend by a quieter route! This is via Carl Side, and branches off on an even less well known track to enter Dodd Wood and visit the Osprey viewing point (upper). From here you head south-east to see the pretty villages of Millbeck and Applethwaite before crossing fields to reach Keswick.
