This walk climbs Skiddaw, one of the highest peaks of Lakeland, by the most interesting route, having superb views across Bassenthwaite Lake whilst enjoying a ridge walk over Ullock Pike and Longside Edge. The only part of the walk where you'll see crowds is the final half- kilometre to the top, as you also descend by a quieter route! This is via Carl Side and branches off on an even less well-known track to enter Dodd Wood and visit the osprey viewing point (upper). From here you head south-east to see the pretty villages of Millbeck and Applethwaite before crossing fields to reach Keswick.
