The walk begins in Whitaker Park and gains height at once, taking you past the Ski Centre to a track which is cobbled at first and rises to bring you to Cribden Hill and then to Cribden Moor. The traverse of this top is one of the best viewpoints in this part of the Pennines, with extensive views all round. When the route drops, there is a relatively tricky section around a farm on a path that seems little-used, but once this is passed good tracks are used for the rest of the walk. A visit is made to The Halo, after which the route follows The Shoe Trail where large clay models of boots and shoes are built into the wall on both sides of the track. A series of ancient paths, now between houses, drops down to the valley bottom and a short climb brings you to a road opposite the entrance to Whitaker Park.
