This is a very enjoyable walk and is partly along the new (2005) long-distance path, The Wheeryman's Way, which is 35 miles in length, starts at the Whitlingham Country park, Norwich and ends at Great Yarmouth. This walk is on mainly very quiet country lanes with hardly any traffic and along the River Yare. It passes the well-known Pettit's Animal Adventure Park, which is great for children, open seven days a week from March to October. Tel: 01493-700094 for more information. There are four inns en route and they all have good menus to choose from and except for the Railway Inn, all overlook the river.

May 2016. Unfortunately the final stretch of this route along the Wherryman's Way has been closed for safety reasons by the Broads Authority.

Did this enjoyable walk today in glorious sunshine. The issue at WP5 has been resolved by The Broads Authority and new gates and bridges have been installed. The route to The Ferry Inn is clearly marked and runs along the top of the floodbank.

Tried this walk today. At WP5 there is a Broads Authority notice saying 'This footpath has been closed for safety reasons'
