For a short walk this packs a lot in: an Anglican church, a Roman Catholic church built in the form of a barn to hide its existence, an ancient chapel, almshouses and a Roman bath. Add views across the Ribble to Pendle Hill, a museum of the Roman occupation, three old pubs and a lovely cafe and you could while away a whole day here. We did - and very relaxing it was too. To get the most out of the walk it is best to pick up a free A4 sheet describing all the buildings. These are available in various places, including the cafe by the car park.
