There is very little road-walking in this delightful loop, which takes in wooded valleys, in spring scented by wild garlic, inspiring monastic remains and open farmland with uninterrupted views across to the higher parts of the North York Moors National Park. The pretty little hamlet of Cold Kirby is encountered, otherwise it's quiet and rural.

Set off early and a very pleasant, if expensive, tea room awaits at the end.

This is a beautiful walk with pretty valleys, wonderful views from the tops, and of course, Rievaulx Abbey. The directions were clear and easy to follow. With fine weather this made for an excellent day's walking.
