Starting from the small Forestry Commission car park at Watchmoor Wood on the B3081 just west of Ringwood, this is an easy walk for the whole family around the southernmost extremes of Ringwood Forest and then through the Moors Valley Country Park.

The first part of the walk is on less-frequented paths, where you are likely to meet just the occasional dog-walker, jogger or cyclist. Nearing the country park, you will hear the sound of excited children and meet more people. The reason soon becomes apparent as you go through the superb play trail created by the Forestry Commission, with mazes, obstacle courses and other play activities created from logs from the forest. A small diversion will take you to the Tree Top Trail, which is suitable for all ages and 'does exactly what it says on the tin', taking you through the forest at tree-top height on an elevated walkway.

The halfway point is at the main entrance to the play trail. Beyond that is the visitors' centre and other attractions of the country park, including a fine restaurant, cycle hire, WCs and a country shop. Beyond that lie a further adventure playground and miniature railway ride.

A different route back through the forest paths returns you to your starting point at the car park.
